OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS-- Invirion Diagnostics, LLC announced today that its highly sensitive HPV screening test HPV OncoTect™ received approval for reimbursement from two of Spain’s largest insurance payors - Sanitas and Aresa. Distributed by Labec Pharma located in Madrid, HPV OncoTect™ is CE marked and available throughout Spain and Portugal.
“HPV OncoTect™ is the first test that quantifies E6 and E7 mRNA, the genes associated with cervical cancer”. “Unlike PCR which destroys cells during the process, HPV OncoTect™ works in a reagent platform that performs molecular biology in the cells and indentifies which cells are making the genes that cause cancer” says Dr. Bruce Patterson CEO and founder of Invirion.
HPV OncoTect™ was developed to be used on instruments called flow cytometers that are capable of analyzing thousands of cells in a liquid cytology preservative in seconds. Using different colored dyes HPV OncoTect™ can be run on all commercially available flow cytometers.
